Laurel Ridge is the camp, conference, and retreat center of the Moravian Church In America, Southern Province. Its Christian mission is to provide opportunities for people to grow spiritually through group living in an outdoor setting.
Laurel Ridge is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, about two miles off of Highway 18 between North Wilkesboro, NC and Sparta, NC. To reach Laurel Ridge from the south, follow Highway 18 from North Wilkesboro for about 18 miles, turn left on Darnell Woodle Road (State Road 1620), travel about a mile, and look for signs directing you to Laurel Ridge facilites.
The 668-acre grounds are some 3,500 feet above sea level and offer many magnificent views in all directions. There are several types of accomodations, both seasonal and year-round that are available for use by churches and non-profit groups. The schedule of youth camps at Laurel Ridge Moravian Camp and Conference Center has been announced, and brochures are available at the church. The schedule is as follows:
All of the camp programs consist of strong Biblical programs, which help campers to
grow in their faith, and various outdoor activities. The campers receive careful supervision
appropriate to the various age levels. This supervision is provided by Moravian ministers
and volunteers who are carefully selected for this responsibility.
The church sponsered Boy Scouts of America, Troop 491 meets at the Church Fellowship Hall, every Tuesday 7:00pm.
