Laurel Ridge is the camp, conference, and retreat center of the Moravian Church In America, Southern Province. Its Christian mission is to provide opportunities for people to grow spiritually through group living in an outdoor setting.

Laurel Ridge is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, about two miles off of Highway 18 between North Wilkesboro, NC and Sparta, NC. To reach Laurel Ridge from the south, follow Highway 18 from North Wilkesboro for about 18 miles, turn left on Darnell Woodle Road (State Road 1620), travel about a mile, and look for signs directing you to Laurel Ridge facilites.

The 668-acre grounds are some 3,500 feet above sea level and offer many magnificent views in all directions. There are several types of accomodations, both seasonal and year-round that are available for use by churches and non-profit groups. The schedule of youth camps at Laurel Ridge Moravian Camp and Conference Center has been announced, and brochures are available at the church. The schedule is as follows:

All of the camp programs consist of strong Biblical programs, which help campers to grow in their faith, and various outdoor activities. The campers receive careful supervision appropriate to the various age levels. This supervision is provided by Moravian ministers and volunteers who are carefully selected for this responsibility.

Troop 491

The church sponsered Boy Scouts of America, Troop 491 meets at the Church Fellowship Hall, every Tuesday 7:00pm.

    9:15 a.m. "Opening Devotions" for all classes - children, youth and adults.
    (This will be in the Sanctuary)

  • A Children's class (age pre-K to 5th grade) that features lessons based on the Sunday scripture readings used in worship each week at church.
    (This group meets in the Children's Building)

  • Youth Fellowship (grades 6-12) meeting during Sunday School.
    (This group meets in one of the Pre-school rooms, off the main room of Fellowship Hall)

  • A new Adult class, called "Word of Life", led by David Guthrie. It also uses the Sunday scripture readings with an emphasis on applying God's word in daily life.

  • The "Essentials Class", led by John Small. Three 12-week units dealing with "Christian Essentials", "Moravian Essentials" and "Living the Christian Life"".

  • The "Bible Discovery" Class for adults, taught by Charles Benson. For fall, this class will be exploring the theme, "From Slavery to Promised Land" in the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Dueteronomy and Joshua.
